The CDBG-DR Construction Inspector is an . This is not a remote employment opportunity. You must be willing to work in both an office setting and at project work sites throughout Sarasota County, Florida. The Construction Inspector will primarily review progress on CDBG-DR single-family housing rehabilitations and reconstruction job sites, including homes that are elevated, and for Manufactured or Mobile Home Units. Construction types include stick-built and block construction. The inspector’s primary role will be to document that program construction standards are met while the local municipal or county building department will ensure that local construction codes are adhered to. Inspectors may also be responsible for evaluating progress on multi-family new construction projects. This role will report to our Housing Manager

Essential Functions

● Photograph and document field conditions during an on-site inspection of each active construction site.

● Evaluate housing rehabilitation scopes of work as prepared in Xactimate® estimating software and compare scope to actual field conditions to determine if minimum property standards are met.

● Visit project sites for our single-family home rehabilitation and reconstruction, home elevation, and the installation of Mobile Housing Units (MHUs).

● Prepare inspection reports and complete checklists validating completion of scope and adherence to specification.

● Update or digital system of record daily with project specific notes.

● Communicate clearly with homeowners and construction contractors regarding deficiencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

● Knowledge of construction and ability to understand and communicate with others regarding construction specifications and plans

● Ability to strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures

● Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with homeowners and other program stakeholders.

● Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Outlook, SharePoint) required.

Minimum Qualifications

● Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

● Ability to travel within Sarasota County to visit satellite offices or project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

● BA, or BS Degree in a management or construction management field.

● Knowledge of CDBG-DR laws, rules, and overarching regulations.

● Experience using Xactimate® software.

● Bilingual (Spanish)

● Experience with CDBG-DR compliance regarding Multi-Family Housing.

● Experience working with sensitive data and protocols to protect and safeguard information.
