The Instructor Substitute will play a critical role in ensuring the continuity of educational instruction by stepping in to cover classes for absent instructors across various disciplines.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver high-quality instruction across a range of subjects, adhering to established curriculum and lesson plans.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment, fostering active engagement and participation among participants.
- Subject Areas: Be prepared to substitute in various subjects, including academic courses, vocational training, and life skills workshops.
- Adaptation: Quickly adapt to different teaching styles, materials, and instructional technologies.
- Participant Interaction: Interact with participants in a professional and supportive manner, addressing their questions and providing guidance as needed.
- Attendance and Reporting: Record participant attendance, track lesson progress, and provide feedback to regular instructors as necessary.
- Flexible Schedule: Be available for last-minute assignments and maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate varying class times.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other instructors, support staff, and program management to ensure a seamless learning experience for participants.
- Substitute Planning: Review lesson plans and materials provided by regular instructors to ensure effective class coverage.
- New York State Teaching Certification in English Language Arts (grades 7-12) or a relevant field required.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
- Availability to work full time Monday - Friday.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and the ability to quickly learn and teach new subject matter.
- Patience and the ability to manage a diverse group of participants.
- Familiarity with educational technology and classroom management.
