Overview:
Grand Valley Water Users Association seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Crew member to join our team. As a Maintenance Crew member, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities. This is a full-time position with opportunities for growth and advancement. GVWUA has been in business for over 100 years and operates the Grand Valley Project-- the irrigation water system that starts at the Roller Dam in the DeBeque canyon and continues beyond Highline Lake.

Responsibilities:
Conduct work to repair, operate and maintain open and piped laterals, open and piped drains, the canal, headgates, concrete structures, diversion dam, fences, gates, canal and lateral roadways, the weed removal facility, bridges, siphons, tunnels equipment and vehicles.

Conduct work to demolish obsolete headgates, pipes and structures.

Conduct work to excavate, set grades, set concrete forms, place rebar, pour concrete, finish concrete and backfill for the installation of new pipelines, headgates and structures.

Assist with ice control operation on the canal and at the dam in the canyon during the cold winter months.

Effectively use and operate hand tools and power tools.

Effectively operate pickup trucks and single axle trucks. Bonus if experienced with tandem axle trucks, trailer combinations, tractors, skidsteers, backhoes, loaders, roadgraders, excavators and other equipment. On the job training can/will be provided.

Perform ordinary and routine service and maintenance on pickups, trucks, tractors, backhoes, loaders, roadgraders, excavators and other equipment as needed.

Conduct work to maintain canal roadways and easements, spray, control, mow and burn weeds within the canal, lateral, easements and drain corridor.

Qualifications:
1. Good driving record.

2. Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License. CDL holders will have advantage and starting pay will increase.

3. Pre-employment drug screening is REQUIRED and all employees are part of a random drug consortium.

3. Be in good health for physical work duties.

4. Good communication skills.

5. Good writing skills.

6. Capable of following written and verbal orders.

7. Capable of working independently.

8. Capable of lifting 75 pounds.
