Requirements

Position Title: Camp Supervisor

Reports To: Camp Director

Department: Camp

Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal

Compensation: $20.00-$21.00/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Camp Supervisor, you will impact our community’s youth through the day-to-day operations of summer camp. Help create and foster a strong sense of teamwork, provide aid to the Camp Director in the process of recruiting, hiring and training of all full-time and part-time seasonal staff. This position will assist the Camp Director in all aspects of development, ensuring compliance with applicable program safety and licensing standards. The Camp Supervisor ensures that all Camp activities and programs are safe, engaging and designed to provide the best experience for all participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in organizing, planning, and facilitating comprehensive training for all full-time and part-time seasonal staff
  • Assist camp director with parent communication including but not limited to billing, camper discipline, parent concerts, etc.
  • Serves as acting director in Camp Director’s absence
  • Supervise, encourage and support all summer team members
  • Help create and manage staff schedule
  • Complete any necessary documentation or paperwork per licensing requirements
  • Provide a fun, safe environment for children to play, learn and grow
  • Ability to lead and assist in varied group activities and daily routine
  • Communication to director regarding issues and or concerns
  • Arriving to work on time and prepared to start the day with a positive attitude toward each child, coworker and inquiring parents while wearing the designated camp shirt and ID lanyard at all times
  • Other duties assigned by immediate supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years of staff management and/or supervision
  • Experience with lesson planning and working with kids ages 4-16 preferred
  • Will need to provide three letters of recommendation
  • Must be able to pass a Child Abuse & Neglect background check through DHHS
  • Must be able to provide and pass finger print background check
  • Responsible, dependable, enthusiastic and able to communicate effectively
  • Strong understanding of the YMCA mission and adhere to YMCA values
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours from 6/17/2024 through 8/23/2024
  • Current Adult/Child CPR and First Aid Certification before 6/17/2024 (internal training provided)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • A required 30-hour training week will take place between 6/10/24 and 6/14/24
  • CPR/AED and First Aid required before 6/17/2024
