Description

Role

The purpose of the role of the Safety Manager is to create, manage, and oversee the safety programs and supervise the operations to promote the safety, health, and well-being of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute health and safety plans according to legal guidelines.
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Manage, develop, implement, and monitor all safety programs.
  • Lead risk assessments and incident/injury investigations.
  • Create and lead safety training
  • Provide support for worker’s compensation claims.
  • Manage Safety Committee activities.
  • Promote workplace safety and assist in the development, maintenance, and management of programs at each location.
  • Ensures company regulatory compliance with any applicable regulation or regulatory body.
  • Conduct job safety and hazard analysis of manufacturing operations and equipment. Provide recommendations for preventative measures and corrective actions.
  • Analyze data trends to aid in identifying and mitigating safety risks. 
  • Create a comprehensive ergonomics program including training, evaluations, and audits.

Requirements

Education/Training Requirements

  • Safety Management or a similar bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required. Must be able to be insurable through GPF.
  • CPR trainer certified (or the ability to become certified)
  • OSHA 30 certification (or the ability to become certified)

Work Experience Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in a safety role in manufacturing
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull. Lifting requirements are 25lb regularly and up to 50lb occasionally. 
  • Exposure to variations in temperature
  • Working with uncooked, cooked, frozen products.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel between all Grand Prairie Foods locations is required.
  • The ability to work on all 3 shifts is required on as needed basis
