POSITION SUMMARY :

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for editing and data entry of the financial information. Request provider numbers for Medicare and Medicaid and other third-party payers when applicable. Provides staff training for completing the demographics and financial information on the Face Sheet. Interpreter for the Spanish-speaking consumer. Notary. Manage FS58 and 59.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required.
• One year of billing experience for third-party payors in a medical/mental health facility or physician's office is preferred.
• Experience with automated systems preferred. Capable of operating a 10-key calculator.
• Good communication skills and bilingual (English/Spanish).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Performing editing and data entry of the funding source information and verifying third-party benefits.
• Assist with the monthly MEDIFAX’S for all the Medicaid HMOs and Plain Medicaid received from IT.
• Manage FS58 Title and FS59 Children Medical Services, FS90 Charity Care, verifying consumer eligibility for charity care.
• Request provider numbers from Medicaid, Medicare, Champus, and BCBS for professional staff.
• Interpreter for Spanish-speaking consumers.
• Provides in-service training for new employees to complete face sheet demographics and financials.
• Certified valid Notary
• Participation in workshops or training sessions in the collection of third-party payor and training techniques.
• Performs other patient accounts receivable control and review functions
• Meets deadlines, requirements, and expectations as established by the supervisor, agency, and department.
• Completes administrative functions and data entry timely and accurate.
• Maintains confidentiality and remains calm under stress.
• Assists staff with support in all areas of functional responsibility in a courteous, supportive manner.
• Maintains and exhibits servant leadership qualities and exceeds customers’ expectations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

General office, health care setting. Most work is completed while seated at a desk using standard office equipment. Fast-paced, team approach. Multi-tasking requires above-average time management skills.
