Seeking an experience Estimator/Purchasing Agent in Jacksonville, FL. This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity.

Full-time, on-site position starting at $85/K

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Estimator/Purchasing Agent furthers the business

of the company by performing duties directly related to the general operations of the company by being responsible for negotiating and purchasing materials and labor with subcontractors and vendors to provide the best quality work, at the best possible pricing, with subcontractors and vendors who can meet company construction schedule expectations while fulfilling the company business of delivering new homes to buyers. This position exercises discretion and independent judgement to fulfill the position's duties. The following description sets out the general areas of responsibility for the position of Estimator/Purchasing Agent. These duties will include but may not be limited to:

  • Home plan costing/bidding out and subsequent building plan in the company’s adopted software system.
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager and Assistant Purchasing Manager with duties as requested.
  • Assist in the Management of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist the company’s on-site Sales Associates and/or Design Center staff with option pricing requests.
  • Maintain and build estimates and job costs in the Company’s adopted operating system.
  • Use PlanSwift for takeoff information so that the master plans, as well as the lot-specific plans can be built into the Company’s adopted operating system.
  • Work under the direction of the Division Manager, Operations Manager, Purchasing Manager and Assistant Purchasing Manager to control and reduce cost; re-negotiate contracts and bids, re-price houses, jobs, and activities to save in the cost of construction to keep a competitive edge.
  • Work to continuously improve the PlanSwift Estimating Program.
  • Build standard plans in Company’s adopted operating system to assure Purchase Orders are issued correctly; build plan and project level options for all master plans.
  • Review house budgets in the Company’s adopted operating system and report accurate and concise job cost to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Produce and process all estimating information given, gathered, or estimated to release complete Purchase Order packages in the Company’s adopted operating system; strive to release estimates that are 100% accurate.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Experience, Licenses or Certifications required)

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient working knowledge of PlanSwift estimating Software.
  • Prefer experience in residential construction estimating.
  • Knowledge of the Company’s adopted operating system preferred but will train.
  • Able to perform complete takeoffs from blueprint.
