GoodWork Staffing is Hiring a CNC Operator Near Denver, NC

DIRECT HIRE POSITION AVAILABLE IN THE DENVER, NC AREA
CNC Operator - 1ST SHIFT -Mondary through Friday - 6:00am - 2:30pm
Pay depends on experience between $52,000 - $58,000 yearly

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate machines in a safe manner.
  • Uses collision avoidance features on capable machines whenever possible prior to executing programs.
  • Check tooling, setups, program coordinates, and any other information to ensure a quality part.
  • Make all corrections as needed by editing the program.
  • Make necessary notations for changes or corrections in the control.
  • Provide timely information regarding problems in production that may adversely affect quality, delivery, or customer requirements.
  • Make suggestions for further improvements in the program to shorten run times
  • Analyze tooling, setups, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Read and understand manufacturing drawings in order to classify them by part type and thickness.
  • Loading and unloading heavy weldments in machines using overhead cranes and best rigging practices.
  • Operation involves loading, unloading, and pre-positioning of work in fixtures, and checking of parts for conformity with dimensional specifications by use of fixed gauges, and calipers.
  • Remain constantly alert to detect improper machining.
  • Troubleshoot material issues as they arise.
  • Work as part of the team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards.
  • Undertake continuous training and development.
  • Other duties may be assigned as the department evolves.
Skills and Attributes
1. Excellent experience in machine shop math.
2. Two-year machining technology degree preferred.
3. CNC part and fixture setup
4. Be responsible for the operation of multiple pieces and types of equipment ( 5-axis non-continuous Universal Mill, 4-axis Vertical Mill, 2 x 3-axis 6-meter Lathes, Okuma 4-axis turning center, key seater, and other chipping equipment such as but not limited to radial drills and tapping-arm machines.)
5. Read and understands blueprints.
6. Have a clear understanding of CNC G & M codes.
7. Following directions/instructions step-by-step. Has a working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling.
8. Inspect parts visually and mechanically for conformance to the print and process dimensions.
9. Able to operate overhead cranes, and other lifting devices.
10. Perform routine preventative equipment maintenance daily.
11. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
12. Good communication skills and attention to detail.
13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
14. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
15. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
16. Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
17. Good verbal and presentation skills.
18. Ability to work under pressure.
19. Understanding of production processes with strong regard for production quality.
20. Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
21. Be optimistic and open to change.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Consistent attendance is expected. Flexibility to respond to troubleshooting issues. The position is predominately shop floor based, with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and odors may be present.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand at least 8 hours per day. The employee will perform machining functions for long periods of time. Vision and use of hand dexterity for computer activities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Good computer skills.
  • A person should have experience in CNC Operations, be deadline-oriented, and be able to time manage with a sense of urgency.
  • Min 5 years’ experience operating milling and turning w/ FANUC control.
  • Proficiency with Okuma OSP.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
