We are seeking a Public Relations Specialist who is a self-starter and highly motivated to support the firm's external communications. Successful candidate plays a crucial role in serving as a trusted media relations adviser and collaborator to the firm's lawyers, client development and global operations teams to plan and execute impactful media campaigns.
What You Will Do:
  • Develop a keen understanding of Goodwin and keep abreast of industry trends to proactively identify strategic media opportunities on topics that align with firm's core practice areas.
  • Actively support day-to-day public relations activities including, drafting, editing, and proofreading a wide range of external communications: press releases, website news items, media pitches, byline article abstracts, interview briefing documents and other communications materials.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with lawyers and serve as a go-to resource regarding external communications activities.
  • Curate and distribute firm's daily media coverage report.
  • Act as main liaison with media database vendor and manage firm-wide media coverage reporting.
  • Assist with establishment of metrics and feedback mechanisms to measure the success of communication strategies and tactics.
  • Maintain editorial calendars for press engagement.
Who You Are:
  • 3 years of corporate communications or agency media relations experience (preferably in the legal/professional services sector)
  • BA, BS or equivalent
  • Excellent writing, editing and data analytics skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong research and information-gathering skills; ability to create media pitches on a broad range of complex topics.
  • Ability and willingness to build strong relationships and collaborate across Goodwin's global marketing and client development teams and to navigate across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong project management and process implementation skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and media monitoring tools and databases such as Meltwater.
