Job Coach Supervisor/ Employment Specialist

Classification: Full time, salaried, non-exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act with fluctuating overtime.

Job Purpose:

Provide coordination, scheduling, and assignments for job coaches. Provide and coordinate vocational services to individuals with disabilities, disadvantaged conditions, and/or barriers to employment, which will assist them in obtaining and succeeding in competitive community employment.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.

Experience: Knowledge and experience of funding source regulations governing the operation of various programs; experience in providing vocational services, training, and/or supervising others.

Clearances: Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, and Department of Human Services- FBI Fingerprints.

Exclusion Report: Employee will be screened on a monthly basis to determine if he/she has been excluded from participation in federal healthcare programs. If exclusions from participation in federal healthcare programs occur, employee will be precluded from employment in any federally funded healthcare program operated by Goodwill.

Other: The position of Job Coach Supervisor/Employment Specialist is a professional management position and requires a person capable of conforming to the high standards of behavior expected of all staff. Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality, are required. The customers/clients under his/her supervision follow the same. The Job Coach Supervisor/Employment Specialist must have a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record and dependable transportation, which can be used in the course of his/her job.

Supervision Received:The Job Coach Supervisor/Employment Specialist functions under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, with latitude for independent action within his/her own area of responsibility, in accordance with agency policy.

Supervision Exercised:This position supervises job coaches who participate in the provision of vocational services to participants of Goodwill’s employment and training programs. This position trains Goodwill’s program participants to meet the requirements of competitive community employment, directing them in the performance of job duties, and appropriate work habits. The Job Coach Supervisor/Employment Specialist is responsible for assigned program participants including disciplinary action.

Skills, Abilities, and Duties:

  • Knowledge of current best practices in the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services.

  • Acceptance of Goodwill’s Philosophy concerning people served.

  • Sound professional judgment, ability to formulate realistic program plans, and counsel participants regarding work related concerns.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to relate effectively to others, including co-workers, agency participants, supervisors, and community partners.

  • Thorough knowledge and acceptance of the principles of customer service.

  • Obtain the CESPC (Certified Employment Support Professional Credential) and ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Education) certification within one year of hire.

  • Flexibility to work various schedules; including evening hours and weekends.

  • Strong adherence to attendance and punctuality.

  • Computer proficiency: Basic computer literacy including the use of email, Microsoft Word/Excel, and the Google Suite Platform.

  • Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits.

  • Ability to perform light to medium duty work, including occasional standing, for up to 8 hours each day.

  • Ability to perform occasional bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, and pulling

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed (material handling equipment can be utilized).

  • Promote and adhere to program compliance by operating within the laws, rules, and regulations outlined and reporting non-compliance issues to a supervisor or corporate compliance officer as soon as identified.

  • Coordinate and schedule job coaches to efficiently meet customer and program needs.

  • Conduct intakes and provide direct service to individuals seeking assistance. This includes file maintenance and an active caseload.

  • Responsible for performance evaluations of staff supervised.

  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding performance standards.

  • Coordinate provision of services with staff, funding sources, and program partners who play a significant role in the customer’s life.

  • Maintain and provide required documentation and reporting to appropriate staff, agencies, and funding sources for services rendered. Ensures files and records follow applicable laws, standards, and regulations.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partners, staff, funders, and community members. Ensure regular contact is maintained to promote successful adjustment to employment.

  • Develop curricula and schedule classes/workshops as needed to promote job readiness skills.

  • Provide staff with annual training and complete personalized training plans as outlined in program requirements.

  • Ensure that staff are updated on all new laws, regulations, and program specific information, in a timely manner.

  • Ensure the appropriate utilization of units for small group employment to ensure .

  • Responsible for other duties as assigned or identified, for the benefit of Goodwill or Employment Training Services. Some of these other duties may be considered non-essential to the position
