JOB SUMMARY

This position primarily acts as a public representative of Goodwill's mission, and provide superior customer service to patrons at Goodwill stores.

Under the direction of the Store leadership, the Retail Associate, maintains a clean, safe and pleasant work environment, and works in an accurate and efficient manner to reduce waste, improve sales and reduce expenses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work to improve delivery of customer service in the store and processes and practices that will continually enhance the shopping experience
• Contribute to effective merchandising of assigned areas
• Participate in all training activities to acquire skills on the job
• Learn and apply company policies, procedures and guidelines to complete assigned duties
• Assist in the visual presentation of the store as directed, including window displays, rack signing and sizing and accessorizing
• Accurately and efficiently runs the POS system; adhere to all cash handling guidelines and POS operating procedures
• Help reduce all elements of loss and shrinkage with special attention to deterring theft and reporting suspicious activity when appropriate
• Provide assistance in other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Previous retail and customer service experience preferred
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Read and write English proficiently, or have enrolled in and are on track to successfully complete an approved ESL program
• Basic mathematical skills
• Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
• Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
• Follow workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety
• Receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement
• Strive for high customer satisfaction, going out of the way to be helpful and pleasant
• Familiarity with or ability to gain proficiency with cashiering system

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift at minimum 15 lbs
• Must be able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period of time
