 *This is not a corporate, office based position - This position will float between all Goodwill SNE ADC Locations throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island*

The starting salary range for this position: $53,872 - $56,000

SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the VP of Retail Operations, the ADC Floating Manager is responsible for overseeing all ADC locations and supervising up to approximately 30 employees in our Connecticut and Rhode Island locations. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, staff training, site maintenance and development of production processing of donations at all ADC locations. Assist the VP of Retail, the VP of Logistics and/or their designee, with opening of any new ADC sites. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Will typically be required to work regular weekend (i.e. Saturday or Sunday), evening and holiday hours customary to the retail trade.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SITES OPERATION

  • Oversee the proper handling and processing of incoming and outgoing goods for all Attended Donation Centers.
  • Maximize used goods processing through the proper application of Goodwill techniques, including sorting, preparing and pricing items for sale. Meet or exceed production goals on a consistent basis.
  • Ensure that quality customer service is provided by self and employees in a timely and courteous manner to all donors and other employees. Be available for telephone customer relations activities.
  • Ensure the proper management of any community service workers assigned to the sites.
  • Ensures that Donation Center and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards and that safety procedures are understood and followed by all ADC Attendants. Maintain processing area appearance, housekeeping and work environment.
  • Maintain all equipment in proper working order.

FINANCIAL

  • Effectively and efficiently assist the VP of Retail Operations, or their designee, in managing the ADC budgets including payroll, achieving processing goals, and controlling expenses.

LOSS PREVENTION

  • Ensure sites and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards and that safety procedures are understood and followed by all ADC employees.
  • Ensure that Loss Prevention matters are reported and investigated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the ADC sites are opened/closed daily, as per scheduled hours. Ensure proper operation of security and safety systems, including but not limited to, proper maintenance and use of door locks, alarms, safe, fire extinguishers and office door; thorough and timely completion of incident reports/1st Report of Injury; and conducting quarterly store inspections and fire drills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Lead ADC employees in directing the day-to-day activities of sites to provide an efficient and effective work force. Maintain positive morale of work force.
  • May plan, assign and direct work for up to thirty employees at any given time. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and applicable state and federal law.
  • Maintain staffing levels of employees at a specific location, as assigned, to ensure adequate coverage to meet production, customer service and safety and security needs of the retail operation.
  • Ensure proper adherence by employees to GWSNE policies and procedures, standards and safety/security regulations. Seek assistance in dealing with infractions or unusual situations from Supervisor or Human Resources, as appropriate. Report any infractions or unusual situations to VP of Retail Operations.
  • Complete all reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus a minimum of two years related experience, including supervisory experience; or combination of specialized training or post-secondary education in a related field and retail experience. Must have attained 18 years of age.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license in good standing and personal vehicle required.

ALARM RESPONDER DUTIES

On a prospective basis, based on proximity and business need, the employee may be included on Alarm Responder Roster for assigned store/location. This would involve responding upon notification from alarm monitoring company, in-person (if feasible, based on proximity), to alarm calls that occur before/after typical hours of business operations.

Employee must follow established procedures for responding to an alarm call and must have access to transportation to travel to/from store at such times. Employee must provide personal telephone and/or cell phone information in order to be available to receive alarm calls and must maintain ongoing phone service. Based on employment classification, employee will be paid in accordance with Agency Policy for time spent responding to alarm calls.

ADC Floating Manager is subject to daily, weekly or monthly re-assignment to any location within the Agency's Goodwill territory, according to company need.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
