Salvage Processor

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Salvage Processor I is a Full-Time position and will be adept in working at various stations in the processing of salvage using the procedures described by the Goodwill guidelines which includes the operation of the trash Compactor, all balers, and the tipper machines.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

• Adhere to Kaizen principles of work station organization.
• Moving materials to the various stations of the salvage process.
• Manually placing materials into the various machines of the salvage process.
• Operating all the Tippers, Compactor and Balers of the salvage process.
• Adhering to the Goodwill safety requirements including the wearing of PPE while processing salvage.
• Rotation of salvage tables into and out of the outlet sales floor.
• Sorting of assigned materials.
• Achievement of shift and departmental production objectives as assigned.
• Work cooperatively and harmoniously with co-workers.
• Cleaning area at conclusion of shift to include: sweeping, organizing, disposal of trash and storage of equipment in designated areas.

Incidental Functions:

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintenance of clean and orderly work area to ensure safety of employee and others.
• Adherence to safety standards in the operation of the Tippers, Balers and Compactor and surrounding work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work with and relate to people with disabilities.
• Minimum of 6 months related experience required.
• Experience and ability to operate warehouse equipment including pallet jack and forklift.
• Ability to perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting items up to 75 pounds.
• Must have an inclination toward repetitive and routine tasks.
• Knowledge of proper safety standards and techniques for lifting and team lifting.
• Knowledge in use of tie downs, ropes, straps, and padding while loading trucks.
• Able to perform the essential functions of the Tipper, Balers and Compactor with or without reasonable accommodation.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:

• Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment with indoor/outdoor exposure.
• Physical stamina for moderate to heavy work required.
• Work involves walking, standing, lifting, reaching pulling and placing materials from the floor into the Baler Machine.
• Constant use of upper limbs.
