Workforce Development Vocational Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Workforce Development, the Workforce Development Manager is responsible for the successful development, implementation, and ongoing operation of vocational training services specific to people with disabilities in alignment with organizational workforce development models and program design in the greater Sacramento region. This position is responsible for successful development programming focusing on building industry-targeted skills.

This position oversees high-impact, short-term programs that break down barriers to employment for the clients we serve.

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan; and Flexible Time Off.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and conduct employment and training intake, assessment, planning preparation, placement, retention, and advancement services for individuals referred from agencies such as the California Department of Rehabilitation, Alta California Regional Center, the California Department of Developmental Services, and others.
  • Provides instruction to individuals through our Good U training programs; ensures implementation of individualized, person-centered plans; leads demand-driven training practices; provides effective coaching, training, and coordination.
  • Provide assistance to individuals with disabilities in creating employment documents such as cover letters, resumes, and follow-up letters; ensure the implementation of individualized, person-centered plans for program participants; lead demand-driven employment practices; and provide effective coaching training and coordination.
  • Reviews GoodU curriculum and determines course modifications to promote client achievement for those requiring accommodation.
  • Promote the employment of people with disabilities within the organization and its family of nonprofit members and the community at large.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability.

Basic Qualifications of the Role:

  • A degree in social work, vocational rehabilitation, special education, humanities, or another related field is preferred.
  • Two years of management experience working with people with disabilities or other disadvantages.
  • Must have a passion for the organization's mission, particularly serving people with disabilities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent networking and presentation skills.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, able to prioritize needs, and familiar with best practices such as trauma-informed care and person-centered design.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to the workforce development program for people with disabilities.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation with the ability to travel to multiple locations in a single day that does not interfere with performing the essential functions of the job description, cause tardiness, or unexcused absences.
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a drug screening and maintain compliance with the organization’s drug and alcohol policy.
