JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: MauiRetail Operations Manager

DIVISION: Retail Stores and Operations

DEPARTMENT: Retail

REPORTS TO: Director of Retail Sales

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY

Manages, plans, coordinates and directs activities of Maui operations including the retail store and production, ADC locations, logistics, transportation and Secured Solution Document Destruction (SSDD). Manages and coordinates activities of retail store personnel in the management of day-to-day operations for store units. Responsible for driving sales for the Maui store location and achieving sales quotas and goals by performing the following essential duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Responsible for maintaining store staffing levels including hiring, scheduling and daily work assignments to meeting store needs. Direction of management staff. Ensures payroll in on track and in line with sales. 
  • Trains and supervises retail management and develops through mentoring. Creates a high-performance culture in his/her stores by setting clear expectations and targets, analyzing store performance, holding managers/leads accountable giving appropriate and prompt feedback. Recognizes staff for outstanding performance promoting a high level of morale among management and workers.
  • Trains, coaches and supervises workers in store policies, department procedures and job duties. 
  • Issues progressive discipline as necessary. Objectively evaluates all store employee performance. 
  • Manages transportation workers and movement of product to and from locations of the retail operation including stores and ADC collection sites. Direct involvement in handling logistics of trash removal/consolidation. 
  • Manages production operations ensuring standard processes, policies and goals are being met and maintained by establishing priorities and sequences for processing donations. Ensures production disciplines are in place including quality levels and productivity expectations are being met to maximize revenue by optimizing productivity.
  • Manages Secured Solution Document Destruction (SSDD) operations ensuring work is performed to contract standards.
  • Manages Attended Donation Center (ADC) operations ensuring standard policies, procedures and GRATIS are being followed to facilitate exceptional levels of service to our donors.
  • Orders supplies and equipment. Communicates and coordinates with facility staff. Records delivery of merchandise, compares record with merchandise ordered, and reports discrepancies to control costs and maintain correct inventory levels. 
  • Responsible for inventory control and loss prevention management. Ensuring store security and reports any suspicious activities prioritizing urgency of matters. 
  • Prepares sales and inventory reports. Ensures sales and cash reporting accuracy and daily bank deposits. Responsible for all activates involving safes located in stores.
  • Consistently reviews and analyzes financial and statistical reports. Make adjustments to operations to ensure sales, payroll, production, expenses and net sales are met. 
  • Displaces and practices courteous, professional behavior towards customers/donors at all times and leads by example. Holds workers accountable to providing the highest level of service provided to our customers.
  • Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company, store and safety policies and procedures. Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner. Complies with all safety standards promoting and fostering the organizations safety program and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Supervises and provides direction to all subordinates located in Maui including the retail store, ADC locations, and SSDD operations. Is responsible for coordinating and assigning daily tasks to ensure various duties are complete as needed and various contract standards. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning and directing work: appraising performance: rewarding and disciplining employees: addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or 2 years of college; plus related work experience and/or training involving supervisory level work in operational management. Combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to supervise a large staff in operational activities involving production, processing, transportation, and facility maintenance activities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write brief routine reports and correspondence in reporting incidents and or other documentation. Ability to speak effectively and clearly in providing direction and instructions required for operational functions. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office, Internet, and Email software.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to interpret financial information provided in meeting and adhering to budgetary requirements.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to function independently utilizing initiative and creativity.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPR/First Aid Certification may be required based on assignment of location determined by Safety Department. Valid driver’s license, traffic abstract that meets company guidelines, and access to an insured vehicle with current registration and auto insurance are preferred but not required. Forklift certification required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Regular Attendance is a requirement of this position. Must be available for core work hours between 8:00 am - 6:30 pm, Sunday-Saturday (including holidays), to meet the needs of the business operation. Travel may be required.
