Description

Job Objective:

Assists retail store management in implementing, administering, and directing the merchandise processing; works with retail store management to implement the policies and procedures of Goodwill’s retail operations activities, and supports the mission of Goodwill Industries. This position reports to the Store Manager who evaluates performance annually.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates activities of Production Associates in the processing and distribution function to achieve daily production goals.
  • Trains employees so they are aware of what is expected of them in work performance, customer interaction, and occupational safety.
  • Plans and implements work schedules, estimates employee-hour requirements, and makes every effort to provide employee coverage for merchandise processing.
  • Follows up on assigned work schedule to assure complete and proper work performance.
  • Ensures two textile audits are completed per textile hanger per day and all other processed racks are counted and tracked on the appropriate paperwork.
  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring and termination decisions for all Production personnel.
  • Recommends personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  • Evaluates work performance of employees and completes performance appraisals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the retail store by complying with all legal requirements and enhancing the agency’s image in each public contact.
  • Enhances safety program by following all Federal, State and agency safety requirements; attends required training; reports all accidents/damage/need for repairs to agency property to management immediately; completes necessary paperwork.
  • Adheres to standard agency policies, procedures, and occupational safety standards.
  • Maintains security of the premises and merchandise.
  • Makes daily assessment of sales floor and coordinates daily production to meet the needs of the sales floor.
  • Ensures that sales floor is kept well stocked and that the merchandise is properly displayed.
  • Works with Transportation Department to ensure containers and donations are ordered as needed.
  • Maintains Kaizen standards.
  • Is knowledgeable in utilizing SharePoint platforms.
  • Cashiering:
    • Accurately count money and make change.
    • Accurately ring register being aware of proper pricing.
    • Know Visa and MasterCard procedures, all forms of payment and discounts including Goody Bucks, Good Points and MGB.
    • Properly bag merchandise.
    • Alert management regarding altered tickets.
    • Communicate specials to customers.
    • Acknowledge all customers and contributors in a helpful & friendly manner.
    • Refer customers to management as warranted.
    • Watch for shoplifting, for ticket switching and for non-store people in unauthorized areas.
    • Maintain safe working and shopping environment.
    • Ask every paying customer if they would like to Round Up (their change goes to support our Mission)
  • Knows how to properly use the overhead paging system and be able to make promotional announcements.
  • Follows dress code and wear designated identification as provided.
  • Completes bag checks on any employee that leave the building.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to market Goodwill and explain mission to the public.
  • Ability to serve customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Ability to relate to, understand and interact with individuals with barriers or disabilities.
  • Ability to lead production associates to complete processing activities.
  • Knowledge of established policies and relevant occupational safety rules and practices.
  • Ability to observe all safety precautions and communicate to employees.
  • Ability to perform all tasks related to opening and closing a store.
  • Ability to compete daily bank deposits, replenish change fund and pick up bank bags.
  • Ability to maintain store operating money and petty cash fund.
  • Ability to run register, make change, and handle refunds.
  • Ability to maintain records of store as required.
  • Ability to route mail.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints.
  • Must be able to pass drug screen before receiving store keys and random drug test thereafter.
  • Must complete a background check that meets company standards.
  • Must have a current driver’s license, access to and ability to drive a vehicle, and proof of vehicle insurance.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Prior supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk constantly for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and properly lift heavy objects.

  • Light industrial area with significant dust.
