Position Summary:

Reporting to the Missional Engagement Executive Minister, the Membership and Engagement Director will provide exceptional hospitality to create a welcoming and belonging atmosphere at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. They will work to increase deeper levels of engagement with the current congregation and create a positive experience for every person who attends worship. By creating a welcoming and belonging environment, they will invite the broader local community to a life of worship, growth, and service.

Job Location: Naperville, IL

Hours: 40 hours per week including some evenings and weekends

Organization Overview:

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is focused on serving the spiritual needs of our local community and on leveraging the time, talents and financial resources of people in this area to help others in our community, across the nation and around the world. Good Shepherd has over 20 employees and about 600 active members who attend congregation weekly. They also have over 15 different ministries to connect with members of the church ranging from children, teens, and adults as well as focused ministries such as grief support and mental health awareness. Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a clear engagement pathway that invites Good Shepherd guests to take the next step in their journey of worship, growth, and service
• Partners with the different ministry ministers and leaders to ensure the steps of engagement and follow-ups are consistent across ministry departments
• Develop, implement, and execute creative engagement opportunities and provide initial follow-up in partnership with volunteers and ministry teams
• Shepherd, train, recruit, and partner with key volunteer leads and teams to ensure execution of ministry goals
• Ensure and evaluate brand consistency while developing a welcoming culture including physical spaces, signage, aesthetics, hospitality, and online experience
• Provides a consistent and welcoming presence, modeling hospitality and relationship-building during weekend worship and other church-wide events
• Tracks metrics to regularly measure progress towards engagement goals

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
• 3 years' experience in a church, ministry, or non-profit organization
• Growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and passion to share the Gospel
• Understanding and commitment to the mission and outcomes of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
• Strong organizational, logistical, and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of work quality
• Ability to coordinate and implement communication strategies and manage projects and/or events
• Entrepreneurial self-starter who is able to see the big picture
• Team builder who is able to develop relationships and manages by influence
