Good Life at Home – Racine, WI
Good Life at Home are 3-4 bed and 2 bed Adult Family Group Homes for Advanced Aging, Irreversible Dementia/Alzheimer’s, Developmentally Disabled, Emotional Disturbed/Mental Illness, Terminally Ill and Traumatic Brain Injury residents. 
RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
Caregivers assist residents who require 24-hour oversight. The role of the caregiver is to assist residents with daily living skills that they may not be able to perform either temporarily or permanently, fostering at all times resident independence, dignity and freedom of choice with respect to resident’s rights. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to ensure that the care and services are provided in compliance with state laws and regulations. We are here to serve the needs of our residents in their home.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily duties include the following, however additional duties and responsibilities may be required at times as assigned:
Assist Residents with Activities of Daily Living - Provides required/requested assistance with dressing/undressing (insuring clothes are clean and appropriate for the season); bathing, personal hygiene (shaving, oral care, nail care, hair care, foot care), as well as those with incontinent issues, mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches) including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques, care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses, hearing aides and contact lenses.
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living - Provides required/requested assistance with use of telephone, weekly housekeeping (vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning bathroom, dusting bed making and changing linens), laundry, escorting and/or transporting if required residents to/from appointments.
Medication Assistance - Provides assistance, as directed and trained to do so by your house lead or by management with administration of medications, including monitoring of medication supplies and documentation, reporting of observed medication effectiveness and/or side effects to the team lead or manager if advised.
Health Maintenance and Monitoring - Observes and reports changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to the team lead; monitors for environmental safety hazards; reports and record as directed; monitors resident daily activities, and caregiver incidents, errors, or accidents.
Dining & Eating - Assists in tasks as directed related to resident dining to include escorting residents to and from dining room, assist those who require assistance with physically eating, set up/bus tables, handle meal services, healthy meal preparation, and/or other special events.
Resident Social Activity - Participates in, develop, and promotes all ongoing activities in the facility.
Documentation and Reporting - Utilizes company protocols for documenting and reporting all residents’ needs, issues, and daily occurrences as trained to do so by your team lead or by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will be able to think, act and intervene independently both in routine and emergency situations and will remain professional at all times. They must be self motivated and able to function as a person in charge and responsible for their own work while also being a team player. They will need to have the ability to relate to residents, guests and peers in a courteous and respectful manner under all circumstances, but especially when attempting to accommodate residents requests. The caregiver must be able to work with flexibility of scheduling and is required to be available for at least 2 out of the 3 regularly scheduled shifts and participate in holiday activities with residents and guests as needed. Must be 18 years of age or older.
DRUG TEST, BACKGROUND CHECK, AND VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE ARE REQUIRED
Professional references are required, Communicable Disease/TB Test, and current annual physical.
