Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance to join our team. As the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a key leadership role that requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders.
Duties:
§ Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports. (Includes monthly forecasting and summary reports, charts, and visible financial tools for Board Member evaluation).
§ Oversee the work of and manage the staff accountant.
§ Work with departments (Operations, Administration, Education) to develop annual budgets, review current processes and improve efficiency.
§ Work with Federal, State, and Local Programs and Officials to ensure proper administration and reporting.
§ Capital budgeting forecasts.
§ Handle Medicare/Medicaid/private insurance medical billing issues.
§ Develop a consolidated financial budget of anticipated revenues and expenditures, based on anticipated enrollment and enrollment trends.
§ Manage/oversee accounts receivable processes and process receivables from municipalities, students, and donors.
§ Work with Ex. Dir. in preparation and monitoring/compliance of grants and grant awards, and support in fundraising campaigns and planned giving.
§ Able to oversee, evaluate, and perform due diligence on any potential merger/consolidation/partnering opportunities in the industry.
§ Support and assist Finance Committee meetings & Board reports of financial matters.
§ Manage/oversee accounts payable processes and working with vendors.
§ Oversee Property and Liability Insurance coverage, renewals, and claim processing.
§ Oversee billing providers and their processes.
§ Oversee collections providers and their processes.
§ Develop and administer a month-end closing schedule.
§ Compare actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; make any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
§ Analyze variances for root causes, and provide evaluation.
§ Assist in the oversight of investment of funds, and provide evaluations and recommendations.
§ Oversee/manage posting payroll to the general ledger, including Employee Benefits, Simple IRA Fund, and Payroll Taxes.
§ Oversee & manage the annual audit of the volunteer Relief Association.
§ Other financial and accounting-related projects and duties as necessary.
Skills:
§ Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required
§ Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, or Certified Public Accountant designation, preferred
§ Strong knowledge of financial accounting standards
§ Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems, particularly being familiar with Sage, Excel spreadsheets, and Quickbooks
§ Strong financial acumen and facility with budgets
§ Excellent analytical and organizational skills
§ Significant experience in financial management, nonprofit preferred
§ Knowledge of 501(c)(3) investment and tax policies, preferred
§ Healthcare industry experience, preferred
§ Understanding of Emergency Medical Services or Emergency Response in Pennsylvania, a plus
