Position Overview:
The Host/Hostess is responsible for assisting guest that visit our restaurant with guest services including but not limited to seating, food ordering, merchandise sales, cleanliness of work space, and providing general information about the property in a manner that best represents the company's image and quality of standards.
Organizational Structure:
Department: Food and Beverage
Status: Variable, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports To: Restaurant Manager
Supervision: Restaurant Management
Pay Structure: Hourly, Paid Bi-weekly
Essential Job Functions:

• Great guest in a friendly and courteous manner upon entering and exiting the restaurant.
• Gather necessary guest information needed to provide the best seating accommodation.
• Inform guest of information related to seating such as accurate wait times for dining and offering suggesting for more timely seating.
• Provide guest seating in a courteous, safe, professional and efficient manner.
• Provide guest with helpful menu information and personal recommendation to assist the ordering process.
• Preform assigned sidework developed to maintain general organization and cleanliness of the host stand and related areas.
• Organize, inventory, and sell retail items. (if applicable)
• Constant communication concerning seating needs to all appropriate staff including co-host, front of house wait staff, Expeditor, Chef on Duty, Floor Managers to assist with ensuring optimizing seating is achieved
• Provide general information about this Hotel, this Restaurant, Sister Hotels, Sister Restaurants and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Area.
• Assist with training of new associates
• Report any guest challenges to management's attention IMMIDIATELY

Qualifications:

• General Education High School Diploma recommended
• General Education High School GED Required
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior Experience Host/Hostess is preferred but not required
• Able to successfully operate a restaurant reservation system
