Job Summary

The Credit Administrator will report to the Chief Credit Officer (CCO). The Credit Administrator is responsible for aiding the CCO with day-to-day oversight and administration of the Bank’s loans and loan operations. This position is also responsible for aiding and working with the CCO to establish internal loan controls and written policies and procedures for Board approval and ensuring the quality of the loan portfolio through loan portfolio management and loan portfolio risk analysis. This position also supports the Compliance Officer.

Essential Job Duties

  • Reviews credits to ensure long-term asset quality through periodic reviews of credits presented for approval.
  • Work under the direction of the CCO to monitor the lending portfolio to ensure that staff and Relationship Managers operate in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as the Bank policies and procedures as approved by the Board of Directors. 
  • Under the direction of the CCO maintain updates and recommend changes to the Bank’s loan policy as it pertains, but is not limited to, underwriting criteria, loan authorities, structure requirements, pricing guidelines, collections, and charge-offs. Periodically reviews and reevaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of established policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and interprets lending policies.
  • Reviews all CRE Concentration reports and Market Analysis reports to ensure the safety and soundness of asset quality and report any discrepancies or concerns to the CCO.
  • Oversees annual loan reviews as well as the collection efforts for all financial statements and covenant compliance required in the loan agreements (including annual property inspections).
  • Under the direction of the CCO provide communication to department heads regarding performance, including formal annual performance reviews for staff.
  • Work with the CCO to determine the competency and accountability of lending and credit staff and set expectations for training and development of personnel to provide for continued career advancement and development. 
  • Responsible for accurately reporting to the Directors Loan Committee, which may include reporting on the asset quality of the loan portfolio, including delinquencies, non-accruals, OREO, loan concentrations and policy exceptions, et al.
  • Evaluates through Loan Review, the accuracy of risk ratings established by the lending officers & portfolio managers. 
  • Interprets risk rating definitions and potentially provide training to lending and credit personnel on risk ratings under the direction of the CCO. 
  • In conjunction with the CCO, assess the quality of analytical analysis performed by the Relationship Managers.
  • Works with the respective Relationship Managers, loan review, compliance, and loan operations to ensure that new and existing loans are properly documented, lien positions are perfected and loans are accurately boarded.
  • Remains current with regulatory, accounting, or other changes that affect lending in all aspects.
  • Potentially aid in the work out of problem loans with the CCO or Chairman and potentially manage and monitor workout activities.
  • May help with providing information required by third party review firms and oversight under the direction of the CCO coordination with the examiners, in all “Asset Quality” related examination data, document requests and information that is needed. 
  • Researches, evaluates, and implements new lending products and programs.
  • Consistently ensures good and timely service to all clients, and prospective clients and colleagues.

Job Qualifications

Must be able to perform all the essential duties of the position satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • College degree preferred.
  • 10 year’s experience in underwriting or examining individual credits, and credit administration functions,
  • 6-10 years’ experience in loan approval, real estate portfolio review and monitoring,
  • A history of establishing, enforcing, and overseeing credit policies.
  • 10 years plus experience as an examiner in a bank/finance regulatory environment or as a senior underwriter of sophisticated credits in a bank or finance company. 
  • Knowledgeable of federal and state laws and regulations. 

Computer & Software Skills

  • Must have computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook email and calendaring, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and the Internet.

Travel

  • Occasional local travel
