Gold Coast Transit District is Hiring a Bus Operator Near Oxnard, CA

GCTD Bus Operators enjoy paid training, competitive pay, and benefits. Applicants do not need a commercial driver's license to apply, GCTD will train qualified applicants to prepare them for their Commercial License testing.

Job Description:

A bus operator is responsible for the safe operation of a passenger bus on an assigned route and on schedule. Entry-level rate for our Bus Operators is $23.19. 

  • Maintain a pleasant, courteous and helpful attitude toward the public at all times. 
  • Drive with due regard to the safety and comfort of the passengers.
  • Answer questions regarding bus routes and time schedules of the Gold Coast Transit District system.
  • Collect fares.
  • Report equipment deficiencies using prescribed forms and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 
  • Knowledge of California Department of Motor Vehicle Rules and Regulations
  • Ability to establish and maintain courteous, effective relations and work harmoniously with others
  • Ability to prepare clear and legible reports
  • A minimum of three years of safe driving
  • Minimum 21 years of age
Applicants do not need a commercial driver's license or permit to apply.  However, a valid Class B (Commercial License) permit is required prior to the first day of training.This position is classified as safety-sensitive and subject to random drug and alcohol testing, under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulation.
