Godlan is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Clinton, MI

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on, experienced Assistant Controller to join the Godlan team. As part of the finance and accounting team, the successful candidate will help oversee all financial aspects of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial input to the management team. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our headquarters.

Primary Objectives and Responsibilities

·Ensure that financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are constantly monitored, in compliance with regulations, with the goal of accurate and timely financial information.

·Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information to management.

· Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process to support strategic decision-making.

·Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed with a goal of accelerating the monthly accounting closing process.

·Oversee the accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger, to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.

·Ensure that monthly accounts receivable data is being properly imported into the accounting system from invoicing systems. Will be responsible for the collections process, where applicable.

·Approve and properly code vendor invoices for payment, coordinate ACH transfers and paper check payments where appropriate.

·Complete monthly bank reconciliations, create journal entries, and prepare financial statement reconciliations where appropriate to support GAAP accrual presentation.

·Coordinate and liaise with external advisors, tax authorities, and other financial institutions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitate financial reviews.

·Complete and file state tax filings, where appropriate, for jurisdictions in which Godlan does business and/or where employees are located.

·Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements and ensure that the organization remains compliant and informed of any potential impacts on financial operations.

· Mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements

· 10 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or related field.

·Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.

·Experience working in professional services or a similar sector is a plus.

·Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.

·Proven experience in a financial management role, with a track record of success in financial reporting and analysis.

· Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.

·Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.

· High levels of discretion, as the position entails dealing with confidential company matters.

·Proficiency in financial software and enterprise accounting and reporting systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools.

· Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

·Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
