GMG Health Systems is Hiring an EHR Clinical Support Specialist Near San Antonio, TX

Summary: Responsible for helping support and maintain the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Ensures systems, processes, and workflows are developed and implemented to optimize the usability and functionality of the EHR to deliver positive patient outcomes and user satisfaction. Serves as a liaison between Clinical Operations and Information Technology. Additionally this role is responsible for developing, supporting, and delivering EHR training to targeted audiences with Gonzaba Medical Group.

Duties:

  • Supports users and systems by creating, monitoring, and resolving clinical IT tickets.
  • Works in collaboration with other key departments to develop, plan, and implement strategies to support and integrate quality patient care and professional best practices.
  • Provides critical analysis and evaluation, documentation, redesign, and development of clinical systems, processes, and workflows to ensure achievement of positive patient outcomes.
  • Ensures medical practices and corresponding policies and procedures related to healthcare IT follow applicable regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Assist with the training of physicians and other clinic staff on EHR applications.
  • Conduct needs and skills assessments for end users to determine the type and duration of training needed.
  • Design, develop, and maintain training materials and programs based on clinical workflow, staff needs, and procedural changes.
  • Works directly with medical providers and staff to develop template specifications, letters, and forms to be used within the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
  • Develop training documentation and outlines to ensure training programs are optimized for targeted audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with IT to research, test, and install new releases of EHR software.
  • Proactively maintains knowledge in EHR software and applications through attendance of seminars and other training opportunities.
  • Conduct triage and discharge duties twice per month to maintain MA credentials and certification.
  • Operational oversight of the patient portal, including setup, configuration changes, access issues, and portal responses.
  • Provide dictation support and training to maximize user efficiency.
  • Ability to travel to all GMG clinic locations on a weekly basis.
  • Conduct regular rounding with clinical staff to gather data and information to enhance clinical systems, which promotes end user satisfaction.
  • Investigates and resolves complex problems and coordinates efforts to provide innovative strategies and solutions.
  • Able to respond to changing or shifting priorities, expectations, and timetables.

Education and Experience:

  • MA or LVN licensed in the state of Tx. required. BSN or other related bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Requires 3 to 5 years of experience in AthenaPractice. Experience in other EHRs a plus.
  • Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills with strong customer service background required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and comply with applicable healthcare industry regulations.
  • Prior experience training EHR content and workflows.
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, consultants, and vendors.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate across departments and disciplines.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to support system upgrades.
  • Excellent computer and technical skills

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and AthenaPractice (EHR) required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Work Environment: Depending upon the area assigned, might be 100% clinical setting or office setting in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Physical Demands: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs. Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
