We're on the lookout for an Electrical Designer to join our team of teams! Our ideal candidate is a humble and confident Electrical Designer with a passion for educational design, and at least two (2) years of relevant skills and experience.

As an Electrical Designer at GMB you will:

  • Join a cross disciplinary project team
  • Formulate engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules.
  • Observe and comply to federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying up to date on legislation and acting as an advisor on needed actions
  • Plan and prepare preliminary layouts and detailed design drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings
  • Revise plans per reviewer comments and designer redlines
  • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy and quality
  • Produce construction drawings including plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules, etc.
  • Have the opportunity to work in a primarily 'remote' work environment yet have the ability to work in one of our learning hubs as needed

What type of knowledge do I need to succeed in this role?More than a specific degree and exact number of years of experience, we're most excited about what kind of knowledge you bring. For this role, we are seeking someone with developing professional expertise, who is able to apply guidelines and procedures to resolve a variety of issues without much day-to-day support or instruction.

Some components that may help indicate you are at this knowledge milestone include more tangible items like:

  • 2 years' of industry technical drafting experience.
  • Familiarity with the use of Autodesk Revit to produce Electrical design documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Enthusiasm for understanding and creating construction drawings.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • A drive for learning and growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

What might set you apart from other candidates?

  • Working knowledge of 3D BIM/Revit
  • Working knowledge of EasyPower
  • Working knowledge in lighting software, including Visual or ElumTools
  • Two (2) year associate's degree in engineering, drafting technology or related field.
  • Experience in communications systems for buildings.
  • Experience in power and lighting systems for buildings.
