Overview

Why Dealer Services Training?

The Dealer Services Training team’s mission is to be highly valued as an innovative and strategic training team that contributes to the overall success of GM Financial/AmeriCredit and our dealer network. We support GM Financial/AmeriCredit by educating employees in dealer and loan services, building relationships with the dealers and supporting everyone with essential training for maximum impact.

The team is comprised of 4 distinct teams that support this overall mission:

  • The Credit and Sales training team provides our field organization relevant skill and process-based training that aids them in every dealer interaction. This team partners with Dealer Services business units to keep a pulse on the industry and provide dynamic training options that adapt to the changing auto lending environment.
  • The Dealer Training department is here to support the GM Financial field organization by building relationships with the dealers and supporting them with essential training. We do this by providing a BEST-IN-CLASS training experience which provides our dealers tips, tools, and techniques to increase sales and enhance customer satisfaction while leveraging proven industry best practices.
  • The Loan Services training team is responsible for training all Funding Operations and Loan Services employees, new and existing. We also partner with the Canada Funding team when necessary to assist in training virtually new hires or when there is a major new Funding system rollout.
  • The Instructional Design Team supports the Internal and External training teams by partnering with them and business partners to create and manage advanced interactive and engaging instructor led and online learning solutions for Dealer and Loan Services.

About the role:

As a Dealer Training Consultant, you are expected to effectively present/facilitate ALL course material. This includes our Professional Automotive Consulting Techniques virtual and in-person, LEASE virtual and in-person, Red Flag and Presentation Skills material. You will work closely with assigned Dealer Account Representatives, building long lasting relationships that ultimately lead to booking training events. You will also complete in-person events from start to finish. This includes all parts of the process, email communication (quote) getting the commitment, responsible for proper documentation in the event campaign, providing support and continued education through the follow up process. You will create and develop training that will help dealers increase their overall sales and profitability, and continue to support our Go-digital efforts. Also, you will develop new virtual, e-learning, etc. to add to the Dealer Training catalog of offerings to our dealers, as well as update and refresh Dealer Training material to provide and support operational excellence, relevant and beneficial support, and automation. You will continue to provide support leveraging the resources available for the best virtual experience while looking for new trends and ways to learn and use overall feedback provided by past participants. You will also interact with other training department personnel to ensure consistency in materials for both internal and external content.

Responsibilities

What makes you a dream candidate?

  • Extensive working knowledge of the sales process (lease and retail), F&I, income development and various DMS systems and other operations within franchise dealerships
  • Solid knowledge of adult learning theory
  • Knowledge of the fixed operations of a dealership and how lender and finance products impact the profitability of a dealership
  • Understanding of pricing models for various in dealership training and the ability to formulate the value add proposition
  • Ability to present to the decision makers in automobile dealerships regarding income development opportunities and promote GM Financial as viable option
  • The ability to develop and deliver in dealership training concepts using methodologies focused on immediate application and use
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate concepts and processes in an easy to understand manner to a diverse dealer audience
  • Perfected skills in working alongside GM partners and presenting mutually beneficial approaches for the parent company
  • Ability to effectively interact with both internal and external customers throughout the organization and within the various dealership levels
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to formulate action plans and timelines and execute plans within established deadlines
  • Ability to instruct and coach dealer personnel; both at the onset of a training campaign all the way through each department of a specific individual store
  • Effective follow-up skills to track and monitor the impact of said training
  • Ability to work independently and as a highly functional team member
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to use appropriate software tools

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, or extensive relevant experience
  • 5-7 years of retail auto experience working in a dealership required

  • Estimated 70% travel in the US

Salary

The base salary range for this role is: USD $59,700.00 to $110,500.00. At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
