Our client seeks Investment Associate/Senior Associate to join their team.

Firm

Our client is a alternative investment firm operating at the intersection of real estate, private equity and structured solutions. The firm, based in New York and Connecticut, invests throughout the capital structures of real estate, related assets and companies. The firm focuses primarily on asset-intensive industries undergoing changes due to technological innovation, emerging sectors with secular tailwinds and niche themes not focused on by traditional investors. Select themes in the current portfolio include office-to-lab conversions, industrial outdoor storage, co-warehousing, cold storage, manufactured housing and plasma collection centers. The firm currently has in excess of $1bn of assets under management.

Position

The firm is seeking a highly talented investment professional to primarily focus on real asset-related private equity investments. The position will include exposure to a broad range of asset classes and investment strategies, including asset and corporate equity and credit, special situations and distress.

Key Responsibilities

• The candidate will be responsible primarily for analyzing, executing, and managing real asset-related private equity and debt investments. This includes investing throughout the capital structures of assets, platforms and operating businesses with significant real asset components. Candidates may also contribute to a range of new business planning initiatives.
• Assessing cultural fit of candidates is a critical component of the Firm's hiring process. Successful candidates will possess the following attributes consistent with the firm’s values: integrity, passion for investing, intellectual curiosity and creativity.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in real asset-related private equity and/or credit investing.

• ~2 years of experience in investment banking

• ~1-5 years of experience in real estate, private equity & investment management

• Experience in opportunistic investing

• Top performer professionally and academically

• Exposure to alternative real asset classes/sectors and/or operationally intensive real estate (preferred)

• Ethical and honest

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Motivated and proactive self-starter able to operate independently

• Process-oriented, meticulous and analytical

• Embraces working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
