Position Summary:

The Director of Enterprise Systems is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of enterprise IT systems and strategies. This effort includes, but is not limited to, the optimization of database architecture, technology transformation initiatives, and vendor and license management. This individual works with Technology, Business Strategy, and Software Engineering departments. to ensure enhancing system efficiency and reliability, reducing costs, and driving innovation in line with business goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Has experience in understanding the current state and desired future architecture state and determines incremental roadmap.
  • Collaborates with the Senior leadership within Technology and Business to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business initiatives.
  • Displays strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern database architecture principles and technology modernization.
  • Drives continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt including vendor and license management.
  • Looks for opportunities to capitalize on technological advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise.
  • Creates a partnership with Senior Software Engineering and Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address database-related issues.
  • Collaborates with developers to optimize database performance and query optimization.
  • Stays current with new database technologies and incorporates them into development projects as appropriate.
  • Builds strong partnership with engineering to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction.
  • Evaluates and recommends new database technologies to improve performance and scalability.
  • Ensures the security and reliability of databases by implementing appropriate access controls, backup and recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Designs and implements cloud-based database solutions, including migration of on-premises databases to cloud platforms.
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures for database administration and use.
  • Monitors and maintains database performance, ensuring uptime and availability.
  • Continuously improves efficiency and effectiveness of the database architecture and how it aligns with enterprise strategy.
  • Prepares and delivers comprehensive communications to convey architectural direction.
  • Optimizes talent strategy to ensure proper mix of resources and attracts and recruits best talent.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies.
  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in database technologies, application development and experience designing, integrating, and managing complex IT architectures with a focus on database management and cloud platforms.
  • 7 years of supervisory experience in leading, managing, coaching global teams to deliver best in enterprise database management and systems in hybrid cloud environments.
  • 2-3 years of experience building technology roadmaps
  • Experience building and maintaining a complex set of systems with a proven ability to understand business use cases and provide guidance on the use of technology, replication and archival strategy, high availability and DR solution options.
  • Strong working knowledge and solution development across all areas of IT architecture – enterprise database, application, physical and logical data model, security and infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of technology architecture, technology platforms and ability to explain technical concepts to business users in the context of business requirements.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to challenge conventional wisdom and take principled bets on new technology.
  • Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements, Experience working within privacy, security, and regulatory constraints.
  • Experience with building solutions on public cloud platforms encompassing IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
  • Experience being effective across a matrix organization, managed global team and offshore, ability to manage as one team across the globe.
  • Experience in managing balanced IT budget, contract negotiation, resourcing and team appraisals.
  • Demonstrated history of hiring, developing, retaining and upgrading technical talent including the management of globally distributed teams

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
