Full time HOSPICE Medical Collector in our Reseda office

(Experience with Insurance Portals and Appeals highly encouraged)

Mon-Fri 8am-5pm - Hourly rate depends on experience, range is $20-25/Hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• One year medical collections and general understanding of collection and billing practices, including appeal processes and deadlines.
• Knowledgeable about medical collection practices, billing requirements, medical terminology, hospice and palliative care services, computers and billing software. Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports. Have effective writing and communication skills, especially by telephone. Understanding and maintaining deadlines and ability to systematically follow-up and follow-through.
• Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reviews records for outstanding and unpaid claims to determine collection activities and processes.
2. Contacts payor sources to determine status of payments and to assure timely payments of claims. Assures all deadlines are met and all collections are timely and effectively pursued.
3. Maintains records and prepares reports as requested in a timely manner.
4. Researches patient insurance information and updates billing information.
5. Submits timely appeals and follows up on claims at various stages of collection process. Documents all collection efforts per company policies/procedures.
6. Attends and participates in in-services and staff meetings and continues to acquire knowledge of collections processes, billing systems, practices and policies. # Accepts training as needed.
7. Protects privacy rights of patients and confidentiality of all financial and other records.
8. Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner.
9. Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations and standards of practice.
10. Performs other tasks as may be assigned.
