Description

Glenwood is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to work in our Residential Services programs making a positive impact in the lives of children and adults with a dual diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) alongside mental health conditions (MI). Our DSPs/CNAs are the heartbeat of our organization. They provide service to our individuals in a caring, compassionate, and professional manner, with a positive attitude. Our DSPs/CNAs work various shifts from 8 to 12 hours (day and overnight), and weekends.

The dually diagnosed programs within Glenwood are comprehensive and tailored for individuals confronting the unique challenges of a dual diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) alongside mental health conditions (MI). The Drummond Center Program is a highly structured 8-bed residential and assessment center for children. The Meyer House is an 8-bed residential home for adults. Both homes may have individuals with IDD only or dually diagnosed with IDD/MI.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Provide direct care for the individuals served, following residents' Individual Plan of Care (IPC), policies and procedures, emphasizing non-averse, positive programming and interactions.
  • Provide support services for residents, staff, and facilities.
  • Assisting with toileting, including bedpans, urinals, and commode chairs
  • Transport/accompany residents to/from school, dining facility, planned activities, and scheduled appointments.
  • Safely operate and maintain facility vehicle(s) as qualified and required.
  • Documentation of care, services, and daily activities in a timely manner
  • Responsible for cultivating and sustaining a healthy environment in the home(s), as well as maintenance of the home, and property.
  • Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a group home, home-like setting.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements.
  • Medication Administration as required by state/program requirements.

Qualifications


Education/licensing/certifications:

  • High school degree/GED equivalent required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Valid Alabama driver's license and must be insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier.
  • Must be cleared through the Dept. of Human Resources Child/Adult Abuse & Neglect Registry as well as the ABI/FBI and pass all required pre-employment and background screening.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be certified or certifiable in CPR, 1st Aid, Managing Crisis Safety (MCS), and MAC
  • 18 years of age or older.
