Glenelg Country School is seeking an instructional middle school librarian who is passionate about middle grades literature and will collaborate with faculty and students to create a dynamic, research- and project-based learning environment, incorporating information literacy and 21st century foundational skills.

Duties & Responsibilities 

The position includes management of the Moxley Library, oversight of student book clubs and the Battle of the Books team, and other duties and responsibilities consistent with full engagement in the life of an independent school. This teacher will be responsible for teaching a foundational skills class to students in grades 6, 7, and 8, and will work closely with the academic support teacher to provide assistance to students as needed. Meeting diverse student needs and forging supportive relationships with both students and faculty, are cornerstones of the Middle School, so an outgoing personality and an aptitude for working with adolescents are musts. 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in education, library background preferred 

• At least 1-2 years of experience as a librarian or in a related role 

• Experience in working with middle-school aged students 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who communicates well with others and is comfortable providing assistance and teaching material across the disciplines. A high-level of organization, positive and compassionate attitude and ability to learn and implement new strategies are musts.
