Responsibilities of a Custodian include:

• Burnish floors with high speed burnisher
• Spray buff floors using a low speed buffer
• Clean floors to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, baseboards, buffing, disinfecting, etc. (NOTE: Assure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties.)
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, extracting, spotting and disinfecting.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting.
• Clean hallways, stairways and elevators.
• Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liners.
• Move furniture.
• Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc.
• Maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas.
• Follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions etc.
• Assist with setups of meeting rooms.
• Other duties as assigned by EVS leadership.

Requirements of a Custodian:

• Minimum of 1-2 years commercial cleaning experience in a hotel, hospital, or office setting.
• Knowledge of floor care and equipment to include carpet cleaning and buffing.
• Minimum of 16 years of age.
• Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions etc.
