Glacial Lakes Energy (GLE), a corn ethanol industry leader, is looking to fill Plant Manager position in Watertown, SD. Founded in 2001, GLE employs approximately 180 team members between four ethanol facilities located in Watertown, Huron, Aberdeen and Mina, SD.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a strategic, big-picture thinking individual who possesses confidence, initiative, a sense of urgency, and has the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Plant Manager or a Production Manager ready for the next level.
This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary. The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and also analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from coworkers and direct reports.
Plant Managers are responsible for all aspects of the ethanol plant operation, including production, maintenance, shipping and receiving and quality control. Responsibilities include plant optimization to ensure maximum production, quantity and quality. The Plant Manager oversees all plant operations and production by working directly with and providing leadership to managers in the following departments: Production, Maintenance, Lab and Grains.

Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC (GLE) was formed in May 2001 by the Glacial Lakes Corn Processors (GLCP) and Glacial Lakes Capital, LLC (GLC), an investment firm located in Brookings, SD. GLCP is a South Dakota Cooperative comprised of over 4,100 shareholders. GLCP purchased the ownership held by GLC in July 2004 making GLCP the sole owner of GLE. Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC Watertown, an original 40 mgy nameplate ethanol production facility, became operational in August 2002. In 2007, the facility was expanded and currently produces 100+ mgy of ethanol per year. In June 2008, Glacial Lakes Energy Mi...na became operational as a 100 mgy ethanol production facility located near Mina, SD. (12 miles west of Aberdeen). Both facilities were designed by ICM, Inc and built by Fagen, Inc. GLE also holds a 15% investment in Granite Falls Energy; a production facility, located near Granite Falls, MN and 8% ownership and a board seat in Redfield Energy, LLC, a 50 mgy production facility located near Redfield, SD. GLE is governed by our 13 Board of Directors who are elected by shareholders from within their district.
