Housekeeper / Room Attendant

Wage Rates (hr.) $18.00 to $22.00 (DOE and state)

POSITION SUMMARY: Housekeepers replace bedding, clean rooms, halls and bathrooms, vacuum, sweep, mop, replace toiletries, make beds, disposing of trash, changing beds, and notifying maintenance of any issues.

Essential Duties and RESPONSIBILITIEs (Other duties may be assigned):

• Provide basic housekeeping duties including changing the sheets, changing and arranging the towels, restocking toilet supplies, vacuuming, dusting and rearranging the room after guests check out
• Performing a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing
• Ensuring all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards
• Report and return any guest properties found in the rooms while rendering service
• Report cases of property damage in commercial spaces to the supervisor
• Work with a team of housekeepers on each shift
• Clean, disinfect and store all equipment at the end of the shift
• Maintain a positive relationship with employees and guests
• Monitor and report on the inventory of cleaning supplies
• Respond to calls for housekeeping problems, such as spills and broken glass
• Collect and remove trash and debris
• Assist with laundry management, including washing, drying, ironing, and sorting linen
• Report, turn-in and log all lost and found items
• Clean upholstered furniture, as needed
• Perform detailed deep cleans, when required
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

• At least one year of experience with housekeeping, cleaning, room attendant
• Working knowledge of cleaning appliances and their operations and proper use of cleaning agents
• Attention to detail
• Work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized
• Demonstrates good judgment, integrity, trust, ethics, and values.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekend shifts, and holidays.

While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must have the ability to: regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds; work with hotel equipment (vacuum, etc.); Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, grasping, pinching, smelling, reaching/lifting above shoulders in a repetitive manner; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; and work with cleaning solutions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
