This summer, Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) is offering the exciting opportunity for staff to experience summer at a beautiful lakefront camp property in Western Washington. Camp staff will live on-site at Camp St. Albans, at the base of the Olympic mountains on Lake Devereaux in Allyn, Washington. Camp staff will attend paid staff training.

The Kitchen Assistant assists the Food Services Supervisor and Assistant Cook in preparing and serving nutritious meals and in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dishwashing area. The Kitchen Assistants has the opportunity to participate in other aspects of camp life, including boating, swimming, arts & crafts, hikes and staff trips to locations around Washington. This position begins June 6th and lasts until August 20th.

Requirements

Paid Summer Staff Training, including but not limited to:  

• Mental Health First Aide Certification
• First Aide/CPR Certification (current or willingness to obtain via Girl Scouts)
• Living on camp during summer season (Optional)
• Food is provided during training and when camp is in session

Essential Functions:

• Assist in the daily operations of the camp’s food service including assisting in preparing food as the menu indicates and ensuring safe storage of food and leftovers at proper temperatures.
• Support compliance with state & local health regulations and procedures and the policies and procedures of American Camp Association, Girl Scouts of the USA, and Girl Scouts of Western Washington.
• Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment. Clean and maintain all food preparation and storage areas and wash all dishes, serving and preparation equipment, and utensils according to regulated washing methods and temperatures.
• Assist Meal and Packout Manager in preparing and packaging food for use outside of the camp dining hall.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years, preferred 
• Must hold or be willing to obtain Washington State Food Worker Card
• Desire and ability to work in the camp kitchen
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification (training available at camp)
• Satisfactory results from criminal background search
