Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida is Hiring a Girl Scout Summer Camp Counselors - Tequesta, Florida Near Jupiter, FL

We will be hosting a ROAR-ing good time at Camp Welaka-saurus this summer as we are transported back to the time of the dinosaurs! Our campers will head off on a prehistoric adventure as they dig for fossils, explore paleontology through interactive themed activities, and, of course, all the traditional camp fun of paddling, hiking, and friendships! And at Day Camp, we will make a SPLASH!
What will a typical day look like in this role?
Do you enjoy the outdoors? Camp Leaders and Assistant Leaders are responsible for providing a safe environment while campers are amazed by a wide variety of themed outdoor activities! These positions empower girls to plan and lead camp activities and facilitate activities for campers in their group.
Camp Leaders and Assistant Leaders are required to live on property in a cabin during resident camp sessions and have the option to do so during day camp sessions, unless attendance becomes a challenge. While no two days will ever be the same, there will be one daily constant: our ultimate goal is to make sure that everyone is having a safe and fantastic time at camp!
Who are we seeking?
  • An energetic individual with critical thinking skills who can adapt as needed.
  • Someone who can communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with children, parents, volunteers, peers, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Someone who can stand for long periods of time and can withstand the South Florida sun in the summer.
  • Someone committed to creating environments that promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
What else will you need?
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by June 1st to be a Camp Assistant Leader or at least 21 years of age by June 1 to be a Camp Leader.
  • Required to timely complete a Level 2 criminal background check with satisfactory results required.
  • Required to timely complete a post-offer, pre-employment health examination and submit health history record prior to first day of work.
  • Strong preference for supervisory experience, experience working with large groups and knowledge of outdoor programming.
