**Position Summary**

The Retail Sales Associate (Part-time) provides customer service for all visitors to the Council retail shop including sales, general information, and Girl Scout program information.

**Essential Responsibilities/Activities:**

* Provide high quality customer service and information to customers and visitors regarding shop merchandise and responding to basic program questions. Refer other customers' and visitors' questions to the appropriate departments.

* Use point of sale cash register to accurately record and complete sale transactions for all items sold.

* Assist with all aspects of inventory handling including ordering, verifying arriving merchandise against orders, merchandise rotation, packaging orders, stocking the store, straightening merchandise and re-facing as needed. Perform inventory count at specified intervals.

* Process all online, mailed, and faxed orders for pick-up or shipping. Record appropriate documentation.

* Open and close the store. Prepare cash drawer for opening shop and balance cash drawer at closing, including processing all appropriate closing documentation for Finance department and shop records.

* Assist with planning and implementation of merchandising plans, promotion, and special sales.

* Attend Shop and Council meetings.

* Additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

**Qualifications**

* 2 years of Retail experience.

* High School diploma/GED.

* Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills.

* Strong ability to provide outstanding customer service.

* Ability to handle money quickly and accurately using an automated cash register.

* Ability to remain calm and work efficiently at peak times when many customers need help.

* Have knowledge of or be willing to learn the Girl Scout Program.

* Ability to accurately and efficiently keep detailed records.

* Team player with ability to work semi-independently and demonstrate initiative in all areas of performance.

* Proficient in MS Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.

* Licensed and insured California driver; must be able to pass background screening including driving.

* Must be available for flexible schedule Monday through Saturday.

* Willingness to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and acceptance of the relevant and compelling benefits of Girl Scouting.

* Bilingual ability a plus.
