GIRL SCOUTS OF ORANGE COUNTY is Hiring a Day Camp Staff Near Irvine, CA

These Day Camp Staff are responsible for maintaining a high level of effectiveness and efficiency for all those participating in outdoor programming- with a strong focus on day camp programming. They are also responsible to assist and support the development and delivery of a safe and meaningful Girl Scout Leadership Experience and other miscellaneous programming.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the day camp program.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to those participating in day camp programs and when communicating with parents and GSOC Headquarters Staff.
  • Understand and know the program participants and help them to respect the rights of others and to appreciate differences and similarities so that all participants have a strong positive experience.
  • Is responsible for the health and safety of program participants and staff, including self.
  • Submit records, reports and inventories as required. Help to maintain equipment.
  • Give direction and guidance as it is needed to ensure the quality and success of the day camp program.
  • Maintain clear communication.
  • Take a positive leadership role.
  • Help to provide and maintain staff cohesiveness.
  • Take time off in accordance with GSOC. (5%)

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years or older
  • Experience with working with school aged children in small and large groups.
  • Demonstrate high level of verbal and written communication skills including the ability to employ diverse styles of communication and public speaking strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize and be a well-organized time manager.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) experiences with databases.
  • Ability to supervise campers effectively and safely.
  • Conflict resolution and management skills.
  • Have a clear understanding of customer service
  • Able to communicate clearly with a variety of individuals (children, staff, parents, employees)
  • Willingness to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and acceptance of the relevant and compelling benefits of Girl Scouting.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams, and willingness to work with persons regardless of age, race, disability, religion, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background.
  • Excellent ability to understand and monitor budget performance and performance metrics.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Licensed and insured California driver; must be able to pass background screening including driving.
