Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is Hiring a Membership Recruitment Specialist (Essex County, MA) Near Middleborough, MA

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) is in search of a Membership Recruitment Specialist! In this full-time, hybrid-based position, you will leverage relationship-building skills to build awareness of the Girl Scout Movement to reach and increase new girl and adult members.

Reporting to the Director of Membership Recruitment, the results-driven and sales-oriented Membership Recruitment Specialist is responsible for developing and executing effective membership recruitment strategies in the southwestern corner of the council's service area. This includes New Bedford, Dartmouth, and other nearby communities. Working within the assigned community, you will build visibility for GSEMA and promote the Girl Scout experience to develop prospects and leads for conversion to members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive plan for new girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data membership trends, and other pertinent information.
  • Schedule, promote, and deliver 8-14 events per month that provide a sample Girl Scout experience and information to caregivers within an assigned geographic area using marketing and sales tactics, including social media.
  • Nurture leads from in-person events and digital campaigns by communicating effectively in writing, by phone, and in person to sell the Girl Scout experience.
  • Recruit adult volunteers to key leadership positions within a troop.
  • Utilize Volunteer Systems (Salesforce) to consistently document member and lead communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team and local volunteers to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment strategies and logistics.
  • Develop relationships with schools, faith-based organizations and community-based organizations.
  • Conduct troop formation meetings and facilitate starter troops as needed to convert new members.
  • Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Work experience in membership sales, community organizing, sales, or other relevant/transferable experience.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and be willing to travel throughout the council.
  • Bilingual skill (English and Spanish or Portuguese) is highly desirable.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, and take initiative; is flexible, adaptable, organized, and has strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software; adept at utilizing social networking; experience using Salesforce or demonstrated ability to learn and become proficient with new technology.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing promotions online groups and pages, parenting blogs, and event calendars.
  • Able to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
  • Strong public relations skills and ability to develop community collaborations; able to relate well to both adults and children.
  • Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Requires transporting supplies to a variety of partners; ability to lift and manipulate up to 15 pounds.


Travel Requirements:

Travel 90% within a designated region and 10% outside the region. Must haveaccess to reliable transportation to travel to GSEMA offices/service centers and across the Council service area as needed. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to motor vehicle is preferred.
