Girl Scouts of Central Illinois is Hiring a VP of Membership Near Peoria, IL

Description

The VP of Membership provides strong leadership to the council’s membership team. This senior-level supervisory position supports and implements the council’s mission, strategic plan, annual operating objectives, and budgets for all aspects of membership and volunteer support. The Membership Department is responsible for the recruitment and retention of Girl Scouts and Volunteers. Travel throughout the 38-county region is estimated to be at 30%.

This position is a full-time exempt, benefit eligible position, including: medical, dental, life, long-term disability, EAP, 12 paid holidays a year and 31 days of PTO (in Year 1!). Additionally, we offer a 403b and match after 1 year, and offer the option to enroll in many other supplementary benefits. We offer a casual work environment and the week between Christmas and New Years off! This position is eligible for 2 days of remote work after 6 months of employment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or at least five years of management/supervisory experience of at least 10 direct or indirect reports.

· Be a currently registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA or willing to become one.

· Possess the capacity to successfully complete a criminal and background search as a required condition of employment. Professional reference check is also required.

· Previous Girl Scout employment or 10 years in a youth program required.

· Experience in developing and managing budgets of at least $200,000 (excluding personnel costs).

· Strong planning, communication, excellent organizational and time management skills, and high proficiency in MS Office and virtual meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom).

· Excellent writing skills.

· Previous experience with CRM platforms is preferred.

· Possess the ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends; occasional overnights may be required.

· Possess a valid driver’s license that meets the council insurance company’s requirement for coverage.

· Possess a cell phone and cell phone plan that has the capability to serve in a professional capacity.

· Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve conflict and maturity of judgement.

· Commitment to the mission of Girl Scouting and then ability to communicate the mission to others.

Responsibilities:

· Provide exceptional customer service to volunteers and exceptional leadership to staff.

· Responsible for developing strategies for both girls and adults in 38 county region, with the goal of managing and growing the member/volunteer base and improving member/volunteer experiences and engagement.

· Provides support to select committees of the council’s Board of Directors.

· Represents the council and all Senior Leaders as needed to both internal and external audiences.

· Develop and implement the department budget, ensure accurate financial records, analyze and monitor monthly budget statements, and retain all financial records pertaining to department operations.

· Oversees all staff in the membership department.

· Conducts ongoing research for adapting the council’s structure and processes to meet the needs of the council.

· Ensures all council operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws.

· Ensures that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work of the council. · In partnership with the Human Resources Department, be responsible for all recruitment, hiring, retention, management, evaluation, and/or release of employed staff.

· In partnership with assigned staff, be responsible for recruitment, retention, management, training, and release of volunteers.

· This position will be carried out under the standard of conduct as outlined in the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois Employee Handbook.

· Positively represent Girl Scouts of Central Illinois in the community.

· Participate in required fundraising initiatives.

Physical Requirements:

· Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and moderate lifting.

· Must be able to sit at a workstation and/or a computer screen for up to two hours at a time.

· Occasional exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
