Girl Scouts Central California South is Hiring a Vice President of Marketing and Communications Near Fresno, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Marketing and Communications will develop and lead the execution of integrated marketing and communications plans that align with objectives in the strategic plan and advance the Girl Scout Mission and strategic priorities. This individual will drive awareness of Girl Scouting within Central Valley communities, as well as support member and volunteer growth and retention, program promotions, and fund development objectives.

This position will have oversight that spans public relations, branding, marketing, media outreach, digital media, and crisis communications functions.

The Vice President of Marketing and Communications will play an active role in the execution of varied multi-media marketing campaigns and should be experienced and comfortable with multi-disciplined marketing and communications skills such as copy writing, public relations, social media, email, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications and Marketing:

  • Oversee and manage the Marketing and Communications functions of GSCCS, ensuring the development of effective internal and external communications strategies that advance the Council’s strategic priorities.
  • Provide oversight in monitoring public relations/communications/media initiatives and marketing strategies to drive recruitment, membership retention, program participation, and fund development.
  • Participate in the hands-on development of the following:
  • Social media strategies, content, and the curation of an engaging and on-brand online presence.
  • Email marketing strategies, content writing, and measurement of analytics .
  • Public relations outreach, pitching, coordination, stewardship, and development of materials.
  • Website management and development .
  • Branded marketing and promotional materials.
  • Establish a presence in the community to increase the Council’s visibility and empower informed brand champions.
  • Continually develop and manage an ever-evolving crisis communications plan, serving as the communications expert and thought partner during crisis situations.
  • Act as the brand expert both in editorial, verbal, and visual standards.
  • Act as spokesperson for GSCCS.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Assume ultimate responsibility for all marketing and communications strategy and operations.
  • Collaborate with all areas of business to provide strategic thought partnership and operationalize cross-departmental marketing strategies.
  • As member of the Executive Team, participates in the strategic planning process to set the Council’s strategic priorities.

Internal Management:

  • Serve as a close strategic advisor and partner to the CEO, as well as a member of the Executive Leadership team.
  • Build a culture of brand excellence and advocacy across the organization and our Board, demonstrating how all can be stronger advocates for GSCCS in the community.
  • Work to foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the highest level of internal and external customer service.
  • Coach, mentor, develop, and manage GSCCS Marketing and Communications team members.
  • Create and manage clear success metrics, holding team members and self-accountable to achieving those goals.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years of progressive professional experience in multi-disciplined marketing and communications with proven results and achievement in digital marketing and public relations.
  • Complete end-to-end understanding of marketing and communications best practices and strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred from an accredited university, preferably in Strategic Marketing Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Experienced in constructing, articulating and implementing a strategic marketing and communications plan.
  • Prior direct responsibility for managing a team.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills to mentor and motivate marketing and communications staff while managing multiple campaigns across various areas of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and use of data to drive marketing and communications decisions and forecasting.
  • An expert storyteller who can channel personal connection to GSCCS’ mission.
  • Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Girl Scouts Promise and Law.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid California state driver’s license.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clearance of background check.
  • Become a registered member of GSUSA and GSCCS.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

SELECTIVE ABILITIES & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The incumbent must be able to perform the following qualifications in order to be offered and/or maintain employment in this position.

  • Physical ability to frequently stop, kneel, bend, crouch, and reach overhead.
  • Use of light force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects up to 20 pounds, frequent weekends and evenings/nights.
  • This position requires the ability to remain stationary and to use computer monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible schedule
  • Frequent weekends and evenings
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly, such as in public speaking engagements.
  • Other demands, as determined by council.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee will work in an office environment and in close quarters with other staff and clients. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud; hectic situations can occur characteristic to working with infants, toddlers and parents in need. Exposure to odors such and scents are common. Occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions may occur.
