GILA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER is Hiring a Service support Near Silver, NM

General Description :

GRMC Support Services Float position will serve Environmental Services, Laundry, Dietary and Materials units by assisting routine daily functions to ensure continuity of services for patients, families, and co-workers.

Essential Functions :

Hospital and Clinic Environmental Service Worker :

  • Cleans and sanitizes all areas of the hospital and clinics, including patient rooms, offices, waiting areas, nurse stations, restrooms and hallways.
  • Wipes down surfaces, mops, vacuums, dusts, and cleans windows and blinds.
  • Disposes of trash and biohazard material.
  • Maintains all floor surfaces and shampoos and waxes as needed.
  • Follows safety precautions and procedures, including the use of protective equipment.

Laundry Worker

Collects soiled linen from designated pickup areas within the hospital and sorts it in accordance with prescribed procedures.

i.e., separates whites from color, badly stained, isolation from regular, etc.)

  • Provides appropriate measures including the weighing and recording of daily amounts processed, record keeping and filling reorder of replacement linens and supplies, and systems to monitor linen losses or inventory shortages.
  • Operates laundry equipment and machines in accordance with operating instructions, safety requirements, and chemical and detergent manufacturer recommendations.
  • Sorts, folds, stores and stocks carts with processed linen in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provides delivery service via cart exchange, shelf replenishment, supplemental delivery, and as needed.
  • Practices quality improvement by performing all duties in such a manner as to prevent linen from collecting dust and soil during delivery and storage, prevents soiled linen from being mixed with clean linen or cross-traffic between clean and soiled linen.

Practices continuous observation of functions that require aseptic technique such as isolation handling and mopping of floors where clean linen may get wet and reports such problems to the Supervisor or department lead.

  • Monitors condition of linen and removes badly stained or torn items and / or provides necessary repairs.
  • Assists in maintaining the Laundry / Linen Department in a clean, neat and orderly condition at all times.

Dietary

  • Prepares and serves food according to Health rules and regulations, following established handling practices and procedures
  • Demonstrates commitment to high quality product and presentation
  • Stores food properly, marking date and item, and rotating stock.
  • Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques, complying with established sanitation standards, health standards and personal hygiene.
  • Provides menus and communicates with patient / family about the room service process including food choices and times of service.
  • Provides meals and snacks within the diet order, observes and documents food intake and response to care, and serves as a liaison between the patient, Food and Nutrition Department, and Nursing.
  • Assists with patient tray assembly and transports patient food carts to and from the kitchen to nursing units.
  • Transports soiled carts, and empty racks for soiled trays, to and from the dish room and nursing units.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen, serving, and dining areas according to safety and sanitation rules and practices
  • Inventories and maintains supplies
  • Provides excellent customer service

Material Handler

  • Performs daily inventory to replenish and maintain PAR level supplies in all designated floor stock locations.
  • Notifies Director of Materials Management of any unusual or high usage items and monitors outdates for items in Supply Pyxis and Central Supply.
  • Tech is responsible for receiving deliveries and ensures items received match delivered goods as stated on the packing list.

Notifies department, including the Director of Materials Management on any backorders or discrepancies. Handles damage reports and return authorizations as needed.

  • Ensures all items delivered for Central Supply and to Supply Pyxis are labeled, stored in their proper location, and charged appropriately.
  • Ensures Central Supply is kept neat, orderly and hazard-free according to regulatory standards.
  • Ensures all shipping boxes are properly stored and off the floor daily.
  • Tech is responsible for ensuring both the outside and inside of the back entrance area where supplies are received is free of clutter.

Ensures empty boxes are folded and neatly stack for recycling pickups.

Delivers interdepartmental request for supplies or equipment, including department-specific items ordered through a purchase requisition.

Must ensure items received from FedEx, UPS or other couriers that are addressed to specific person or other department is documented, delivered and signed for on the delivery log by recipient upon delivery in Central Supply within 24-hours of receipt unless stated as priority or rush which should then be delivered immediately.

  • Ensure Supply Pyxis Stations remain stocked on a day to day basis
  • Decontaminates medical equipment stored in Central Supply. Assumes responsibility for assuring that medical equipment are clean, properly stored and organized in the department.
  • Assist in maintaining medical equipment log to ensure all equipment issued from department is accounted for.
  • Ensures the appropriate departmental safety and infection control procedures are followed.
  • Must participate in periodic physical inventory.
  • Represents the department to administration, other areas, outside entities and the public professionally.
  • Cross-trains with other techs and materials handlers within department to ensure coverage for planned absences. Participates in department continuous training initiatives and helps train new techs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Training Requirements :

  • Valid Driver’s License at class D or above for positions that require driving.
  • Must be 18 years old to start required
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred.
  • Must meet insurance requirements of 21 and up.
  • ServSafe
