GILA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER is Hiring a NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST Near Silver, NM

General Description:

The Radiology Tech IV is responsible for performing diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures. S/he provides performs Quality Assurance checks, follows pain management protocols, and maintains adequate records and supplies. 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares, measures, and administers concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specific body areas and body products to obtain information used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Performs technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in utilization of radioactive substances for diagnostic purposes. Performs such procedures under departmental guidelines.
  • Assesses patient needs relevant to diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Stocks the Department with adequate supplies and maintains an orderly working area.
  • Complies with all regulatory standards, and maintains adequate records to ensure safety, proper care of patients, diagnostic quality of images, and radiation safety for patients and staff.
  • Knows and understands all standards for equipment, quality assurance, and quality control. Maintains records and performs Quality Assurance/ Quality Control checks to meet state and national regulations.
  • Maintains and records all pertinent information needed to complete patient care for all systems.
  • Consistently uses radiation protection measures such as time, collimation, shielding, and distance and handling of isotopes.
  • Follows hospital policy regarding pain management and use of restraints for patients.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the PACS and MediTech systems.
  • Provides clinical instruction to students, and precepts new techs.
  • Assists with Radiation Safety Officer’s duties.
  • Performs call back duties when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Training Requirements:

  • Current ARRT in Nuclear Medicine, NMTCB, or CNMT certification
  • Current NM State license
  • AHA BLS certification within 3 months of hire
  • One year Nuclear Medicine Tech experience preferred
  • Willingness to cross train in other modalities highly preferred
  • Computer proficiency required
