Qualifications

  • Licensed Architect Certification required.
  • B.S. Architecture degree or higher required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, and Bluebeam software.
  • General Contractors license a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in building envelope investigation and repair design, which includes field experience.
  • Technical knowledge of building envelope design and repair.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Job Essentials, Responsibilities, Duties

  • Performs forensic assignments within the field of architecture/facility design based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the project manager and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
  • Performs on-site architectural systems evaluations and assessments to determine the cause and origin of failed, defective, damaged, and /or deteriorated architectural components and products. All work will be supported by detailed written forensic reports detailing the findings, and recommendations.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously. Coordinates with other support team members and third-party consultants to produce client reports in a timely manner according to agreed-to schedules.
  • Ensures that procedures are being followed and checks on safety features of the project during the implementation of the work.
  • Uses many different equations, applications, and figures to ensure the proper procedural application.
  • May serve as team leader or project manager. May be required to supervise and/or evaluate performance of associate team members.
  • Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work in adverse field conditions (at height, in confined spaces, etc.)

Specific Job Knowledge, skills, Abilities and Personality Traits

  • Must have thorough knowledge of building construction.
  • Understand the dynamics of buildings as living, breathing entities.
  • Possess the ability to assess an adverse condition or symptom and be able to process the potential causes for such conditions to recommend a remedy.
  • Excellent writing skills to translate findings into a professional and concise report.
  • Must understand cost impacts for various remedies that may be presented.
  • Ability to prioritize remedies from an immediate to a longer-term response.
  • Must have a willingness to both meet a client and present repair concepts and ideas, but to also willingness to roll sleeves up for hands on work, to find the solution.
  • Exceptionally detail oriented to produce thorough work product in field knowledge and in reporting.

Position Summary

The Forensic Architect will perform building conditions assessments, diagnose building issues requiring some level of repair or renovation, and report on the various situations, including design resolution, budget cost estimations, and scheduling for repairs and/or upgrades. In addition, will have manage investigation and litigation support projects involving damage to structures from accidents, catastrophes, construction defects and/or other adverse conditions. The Forensic Architect will be required to coordinate with other team members and project managers on interdisciplinary efforts. Position requires some level of marketing to support expansion of business opportunities.
