Role Description

With the Field Technical Operations team on Google Fiber, you'll support the deployment, operations, installations, and maintenance of a fiber optic network supporting residential and business customers throughout your market. This role requires a passion for being on-the-ground, executing complex projects that improve internet access, speed, and service in your community. This role will flex to meet the needs of the business, plugging into areas where needs are critical, and then rapidly moving onto new areas of need as the business evolves. As a consequence, your manager may change frequently in this role, as it will rotate across functions on a needs-basis. It will require some knowledge of our industry and and willingness to learn much more. A versatile skill set, a flexible approach, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges as the role evolves and changes is critical.

In this role, you'll:

  • Partner with the Finance and Controls teams to manage budgets and financial controls.
  • Experience drafting, evaluating, and approving contracts or statements of work.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and planning cycles and financial deliverables in order to drive visibility into business performance and resource planning decisions
  • Generate insights into drivers of costs and user metrics; identify risks and opportunities with actionable recommendations
  • Support month-end close out activities in close partnership with market team, Project Controls, and accounting, along with regular spend governance reviews and approvals
  • Regional ownership of end to end compliance for all engineering, construction, and maintenance activities for the region.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent practical experience in a similar field.
  • 4 years of experience managing compliance with contracts and budgets.
  • Experience in construction/engineering/project management and in the FTTH telecommunications/cable industry.

It's preferred if you have:

  • 5 years of experience in Project Controls, managing costs and project schedules for engineering or construction projects that span multiple teams within project management systems
  • Experience using project controls systems
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting processes and terminology.
  • Proven Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets skills and other database, automation or business intelligence skills (e.g. SQL)
  • Experience using Ecosys and SAP - Ability to communicate with executives and senior management teams.
  • Ability to self-direct work in an unstructured environment, deal with ambiguity and define the agenda.
  • Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $114,000 - $126,000 bonus equity benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
