Get Fresh Produce has been providing fresh produce and other products to restaurants and other end users in Chicagoland and the surrounding areas since 1982. We are currently accepting applications for a Transportation Supervisor position to work at our Bartlett, IL facility. This position offers competitive pay, full benefits, and a stable work environment with a growing company.

As the Transportation Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day direction within the Transportation department at our Bartlett, IL location. 

Essentials Functions:

  • Preparing driver schedules, approving time off requests, and handling discipline and attendance issues
  • Dispatching drivers daily and assigning all equipment needed for the day
  • Recommending routes for maximum efficiency
  •  Directly supervising drivers and yard spotters on all facets of DOT compliance and safe driving compliance
  • Hands-on management, such as ride-alongs for coaching and training as needed
  • Communicating service issues to the sales, customer service, and Operations team
  • Working closely with Dispatch personnel and the Director of Transportation to provide best-in-class delivery expectations
  • Coordinating with Operations to ensure customer and driver needs are met
  •  Participating in the hiring of Drivers, including conducting interviews, road tests, and paperwork
  • Participating in safety investigations, reviewing and reporting on root-cause analysis
  • Reviewing performance and service levels with customers on delivery experience
  •  Having a good working understanding of the CBA (collective bargaining agreement)
  • Completing special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  •  A high school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience in transportation, with at least 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with knowledge of Produce Pro ERP software a plus
  • Knowledge of driver safety and DOT compliance requirements
  • Transportation or warehousing experience in the food industry a plus
  • The ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and pay attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-management skills, motivation, and the ability to work through difficult situations
  • Leadership skills with a focus on morale and team motivation
  • The ability to pass a pre-hire drug screen and physical
  •  Legal eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • A Class B license
  • The ability to read, speak, write, and understand English, with bilingual skills a plus

Work schedule:

  • 5-day work week
  • 6-day work week as business needs arise
  • 40 hours
  • Start time of 7:00 am to 9:00 am until work is completed
  • Mandatory holiday shifts
  •  This is an in-person position in Bartlett, IL
