As our Yard Attendant/Dispatcher, you will be performing daily equipment moves to and from docks and parking lots. You will fuel trucks and ensure they are in good working order as well as providing day-to-day support for the Transportation department.

Essential Functions:

•  Efficiently and accurately stage trailers for loading and transport while ensuring proper temperature control.
• Maneuver and back trailers into loading docks, and pre-trip fleet equipment including: trailers, straight trucks, tractors, and spotter trucks.
• Maneuver trailers/trucks into yard parking stalls to ensure there is no traffic backup.
• Follow safety protocols, including performing safety checks to secure fleet.
• Fuel trucks/trailers with diesel and DEF fluid as needed.
• Check proper refrigeration set points on equipment.
• Collaborate with warehouse personnel using safety control system to remove equipment from one location to another, according to door assignments.
• Work with Operations Manager to ensure proper equipment is used for routes, and that any necessary repairs are completed before using the equipment.
•  Ensure that our routes are accurately and completely shipped via cross-checking paperwork.
•  Accurately dispatch drivers from the distribution facility with the equipment they need to service the customer.
• May be required to rescue drivers or recover deliveries.
• Handle and understand billing/shipping paperwork.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience in transportation.
•  Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in Produce Pro ERP software being a plus.
•  Knowledge of driver safety and DOT compliance requirements.
• Transportation or warehousing experience in the food industry is a plus.
•  Ability to prioritize, multi-task, attention to detail/accuracy.
• Self-managed, motivated, and ability to work through difficult situations.
•  Leadership skills with a focus on morale and team motivation.
•  Must pass pre-hire drug screen and physical.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English, with bilingual abilities being a plus.
• Commercial Driver License (CDL) A Required.
•  Excellent interpersonal skills, able to listen for needs, check for understanding and accuracy, and build relationships with other employees.
•  Efficient with computer-based dispatch programs, Outlook email, and Excel spreadsheets.
•  Understanding of FMCSR and DOT laws/requirements.
•  Familiar with the operation of unloading equipment (i.e., lift-gates, ramps, 2-wheel hand-carts).

Work Schedule:

• 5-day work week Sunday to Friday with Saturday and a day off during the week
• 40 Hours
• Start time of 1:00pm through 10:00pm or until work is completed
• Mandatory Holiday shifts
• This is an in-person position in Comstock Park, MI

Compensation:

• Starting pay $26.00 per hour
