GEOTEK is Hiring an Enviormental Health ansd Safety Specialist Near Stewartville, MN

Summary

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist will be a champion for safety and compliance in the workplace. Key duties of the position will include safety and compliance audits, workplace injury follow-up, and environmental reporting and tracking.

Duties and Responsibilities

    Conducts daily safety and environmental audits, as well as informal walkthroughs on the production floor for general safety questions, ideas, and to ensure compliance.
    Participates in accident investigation process and weekly action items updates.
    Works with operations supervisors to ensure competency and compliance with incidents & action items.
    Uploads new SDS to the portal as needed and audits the portal annually.
    Maintains safety and compliance metrics throughout organization and supports plant safety and compliance actions through ongoing meetings, audits, trainings, and process changes.
    Updates the weekly safety toolbox talks and safety boards.
    Assists with safety incentives and employee engagement.
    Maintains safety supply stock; coordinates inventory needs with purchasing.
    Supports environmental initiatives throughout the plant.
    Assists with other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

    Minimum 1 year of safety and compliance experience, preferably in a lab or manufacturing environment
    4-year bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, sustainability, environmental science, or other related degree program.
    experience/understanding of safety
    Basic math and statistical skills
    Working knowledge of Federal/State regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA)
    Familiarity with chemical safety and hygiene
    Hands-on with interpersonal and communication skills – able to connect with a variety of disciplines across varying forums and comfortable speaking in front of groups
    Organized and self-directed; strong attention to detail and quality
    Ability to see and suggest appropriate changes and shift in a fast-paced environment
    Proficient computer skills, specifically in Word, Outlook, and Excel

Physical Work Conditions

    50 – 50 split between office and plant work environment
    While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals.
    Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
    Position will be on second shift, M-F 3:00pm – 11:30pm
