Department Information

Housing and Residence Life is passionate about the Georgia Tech residential student experience. With 97% of all first-year students choosing to live on campus, we create spaces and opportunities for Yellow Jackets to grow and connect from their first day of college through their graduate studies. Our department is a large and complex organization supporting over 8,700 on-campus residents among 49 traditional halls, suites, and apartments, some of which were constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our team of 200 professional staff and 300 student staff among seven departments support residents directly and indirectly with their unique talents.

Job Summary

Prepare and paint interior and exterior building surfaces and fixtures. Provide guidance in painting processes to maintenance personnel as required. This position will interact on a consistent basis with Area Maintenance staff, building contact personnel, maintenance personnel, vendors and suppliers, and environmental health and safety personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: maintenance personnel. This position will supervise: NA

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Finish drywall and prepare surfaces for painting.

Job Duty 2 -

Patch and repair plaster walls and ceilings.

Job Duty 3 -

Move furniture, equipment, fixtures, etc., to provide a clear work area.

Job Duty 4 -

Color match and mix paint; track and maintain paint code records.

Job Duty 5 -

Apply paint to surfaces using a brush, roller, or spray gun.

Job Duty 6 -

May requisition materials and supplies.

Job Duty 7 -

Maintain net and clean work area during job and perform clean-up at job completion.

Job Duty 8 -

Provide guidance to maintenance personnel assisting in painting operations.

Job Duty 9 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High school diploma, GED Certificate, or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience

Two to four years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Technical Diploma in the building construction field

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $17.53-$23.84/hr.

Job Grade: C6

SKILLS

This job requires journey-level knowledge and skill in the use of painting tools and equipment, paint mixing and matching, and commercial and industrial painting processes and practices.
