Our Agency

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services.

Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (GRHS) is a state-funded multi-service facility operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia. GRHS opened in December of 1970 with a design to decentralize mental health services in the state and treat people nearer to their homes and families. The hospital provides evaluation and treatment to clients needing care. The hospital's admitting office is a psychiatric emergency receiving facility open 24 hours a day.

GRHS is seeking candidates for the position of Mgr, Nurse / Registered Nurse / Campus Supervisor with Nursing Administration, working 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. shift.

FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. 

Job Description:
This is an integral position to the hospital as it works to keep continuous workflow and acts as the Nursing Representative in day-to-day operations to ensure all departments are up to date in communication and working smoothly. This position will supervise, guide, and/or instruct work assignments of staff campus wide. Ensures that staff assess individuals’ health problems and needs. Supervises the provision and quality of nursing care to adult mental health and forensics individuals. May administer medications as prescribed by the physician. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans. Maintains accurate, detailed reports related to patient acuity and staffing needs. Modify treatment plans as indicated by individual’s responses and conditions. Responds to all emergency codes. Responsible for hiring and management of Transport Drivers.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the State qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with hospital supervisory experience of no less than two years and ten employees. Experience in a Mental Health facility of no less than two years. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and implementation of change processes.

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Two or more years in a managerial/supervisory of leadership role.
